Avoiding the Sunday Scaries: Beating the Emotional Dread
Let’s set the scene. It’s Sunday morning. Tomorrow is a big day. A wave of anxiety comes over you and ruins your entire Sunday. Not fun.
Despite the name, the “Sunday Scaries” are not as cute as it sounds. The general anxiety that comes about when preparing for your week ahead can be debilitating. Don’t let the worries bring you down. You are so much stronger than them.
Even though the name implies that these anxieties can only occur on Sunday, they can arise at any time. It’s important to review your week and make sure you haven’t bitten off more than you can chew.
Below are some ideas to get you moving and avoid those menacing anxious thoughts.
Take a walk. Getting outside and taking in some fresh air is a great way to take your mind off of the next day’s worries.
Practice yoga. I have found that when you stretch and continuously inhale fresh air, your mind tends to become clearer. Perfect, right?
Reevaluate your schedule. Is it possible for you to be overbooked? Review your schedule and see what you can scratch off to lighten your workload.
Make Sundays all about you. Take this day to do what you love. Don’t sit at home and mope around. That will not do you any good. Take a trip to a local museum, go shopping, and do whatever it is that you find peace in.
Let this blog serve as a reminder to take care of yourself. Self-care is the key to success when managing your anxieties.
